Carole June Heisler December 27, 1931 - March 13, 2021
Carole passed away 12 days after her beloved husband Arthur in Charlotte, North Carolina. Art and Carole were married for 61 years.
They lived a full life of work, family and world travel. They met in Orlando. Carole had three kids; Art had four. They loved to work hard and they loved to dance. They loved their kids, grandkids and dear friends.
Art and Carole lived the military life for several years, transferring to Germany where they travelled extensively through Europe with their children. They continued their world travels for many years - well into their 80’s. They moved to Charlotte from Orlando in 2004 to be close to some of their grandchildren.
Carole was born in Commerce, Oklahoma to Sherman and Grace Shamblin. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University. She was a trained soprano and sang, accompanied by her first husband, in churches and military chapels in Oklahoma, England and Florida.
She was a legal secretary in Orlando for 25 years, then became a Judicial Assistant in the Florida Circuit Court System. She later spent six years in the Federal Judicial System in North Florida.
In addition to her parents Carole was predeceased by three siblings (Arnold, Leonard and Twyla), beloved son Gregory Martin and her dear husband Art.
She is survived by her children Deborah Goodman and Stephen Martin (Vicky), stepchildren Wanda Jennings and Arthur Heisler III, seven granddaughters (Anna, Kristen, Kristina, Jessica, Amy, Brie and Hannah) and eight great grandchildren. She will be missed by her dear nieces and nephews and her closest friends and travel buddies Ila Bower and Kathy Broyles.
Carole was a devoted partner to Art, a deeply loving mother and doting ‘Mama’ to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also a true friend and welcoming hostess to so many who ‘popped in’ to the happy, bustling Heisler house on weekends and holidays.
She had a soft spot for the underdog - often reaching out to people less fortunate with some grocery money or just much needed guidance.
Carole was so easy to talk to. Friends and family can all attest to hours of phone conversation. She was our ‘go to’ person - the one who would listen and help us figure it out.
We will all miss her terribly, but deeply grateful she’s at peace with our dear father and brother.

Carole was a very kind and thoughtful person! Growing up next door to "The Heislers" was great fun as both Art & Carole always had a smile and kind word for their neighbors. Their children that we grew up with right next door, Debbie, was so beautiful and vivacious, sons, Steve and Greg were sooo cute and provided much entertainment and joy for my 3 sisters and 6 brothers! Whether in the pool, on bikes, surfing or just playing in the neighborhood, Carole & Art were always inviting to all who just "showed up"! Our memories will live on with their gentleness, kindness and love that they so generously shared with everyone they encountered!

I first met Carole & Art at the age of 9, our family moved next door. Little did I know the role both Carole & Art would play in my life, they were parents to the children we played with, friends with our parents, and mentors to me. Art & Carole stood by my side as I tried to purchase a home , they listened, let me cry to them & in their arms when my offers fell thru. I always enjoyed giving Art a jab about this or that which brought smiles & laughter to Carole. They were kind, loving and giving ... I will miss them dearly until I see them again. In my heart ,on my mind , love u both... Margaret
