Born June 27, 1933 in Minor Hill, TN, he moved with his family to Winter Haven and graduated from Winter Haven High School. Bill then joined the Army where he obtained the rank of Sergeant before his honorable discharge. After meeting and marrying Glenda, his wife of 44 years, most of his working career was spent with the US Postal Service. He and Glenda were faithful members of Church of Christ and enjoyed serving in congregations in Lakeland and Winter Haven. Bill was always cracking a joke and enjoyed following the Florida Gators and the Tampa Bay Rays.
Survivors include; children, Kathy Carini (IL); Jeff (Cindy) Lawrence (AL); Mike Lawrence (CA): brother, James Lawrence (FL); sister, Barbara Summers (FL); 5 grandchildren, Tara, Elizabeth, Megan, Philip and Brandon; 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021 between 10-11 am at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven. Slate Moore, minister of the Central Church of Christ in Winter Haven will officiate the funeral service to follow at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mount Dora Children’s Home.
