Minnie C. Deuel
July 18, 1925 – May 16, 2020
Minnie C. Deuel, 94, passed away on May 16, 2020 in The Villages, Florida. A graveside service will be held at noon on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
Minnie was born on July 18, 1925 to Elisha and Bertha Cook in Trout Creek, New York, the youngest of eight. Her father died when she was 12 years old, and while her mother worked as a housekeeper, she was raised by her older siblings. On December 31, 1950, Minnie and Harold Deuel were married at the Mt. Vision Baptist Church. They had a daughter and a son, and in 1958 moved to Orlando, Florida. Minnie often said her happiest years were spent with her children. In 1984, the couple moved to Croom-A-Coochee, Florida where they lived out their retirement years.
When Minnie met Harold, she was working at the Scintilla Magneto defense plant in Sidney, New York and continued there until the birth of their daughter. She returned to the workforce in 1960 at Martin Marietta. Over the years, she delivered newspapers, drove a school bus, worked nights at Barnett Bank, worked at a warehouse and drove a delivery van. A strong practical woman, who took on the challenge of both raising and helping to provide for her family, Minnie is remembered by all for her laughter and love of her family.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 45 years, her parents, two sisters, five brothers, and many other family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Kennedy and her husband James, Waco, Texas; Leon Deuel, Croom-A-Coochee, Florida; grandchildren, Jonathan Deuel, Erin Kennedy Mayer, Lauren Deuel, and Rachel Deuel; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
