

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Gertrude Eleanor Domres (nee Patzwald), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter and friend, on May 20, 2026 at the age of 97 years. She left this world peacefully, firm in her faith, after a life filled with kindness, hard work and an unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Gertrude was born on January 21, 1929, on the family farm south of Lemberg, to Wilhelm and Lydia (Stockinger) Patzwald. Gertrude grew up the eighth child in a family of ten and knew the value of humble beginnings, love and family. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and her faith, and her wisdom was a guiding light for all of us.
She is survived by her daughters: Deborah (Don) Wilson, Peggy (John) Rhinelander, Lorraine (Brian) Geres and Valerie Domres; seven grandchildren: Kayer Wilson, Scott Wilson, Rebecca (Shane) Caron, David (Louise) Rhinelander, Christopher Rhinelander; Michael (Tanya Leibel) Geres and Adam (April) Geres; great-grandchildren: Samantha Pekrul, Madelynn Rhinelander (Mom Krista), Carissa Nash, Lola, Peyton and Audra Caron, Kylee Schmidt, Radek, Zackary and Natalie Geres, Weston and Liv Geres, who will carry her love and lessons in their hearts forever.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelm and Lydia Patzwald; her husband of 63 years, Alfred Domres; infant son Robert; infant great-grandson Karl Geres; sisters Emma (Ernie) Herndier and Erna (Karl) Herndier; brothers: Julius (Ida), Robert (Lillian), Albert (Elsie), Herman (Erna), Edward (Jean), Elmer (Liz) and Matt (Arlene); parents-in-law Gottfried and Ottilia Domres and brothers-in-law Arthur (Doris) and John (Helen).
The family would like to extend their deep gratitude for the compassionate care provided by the staff of Hayes Haven in Indian Head and the Ituna Pioneer Health Care Centre.
A celebration of Gertrude’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Lemberg, Saskatchewan at 2:00 p.m., with officiant Deacon Kevin Prouten. The interment will take place in the Lemberg Cemetery.

Her love was a gift, her life an inspiration and her memory will be cherished always.
