At the age of 81, Paul James Sentman went home to be with his Savior on December 6th, 2020. His bride of 59 years, Laura, preceded him in death only 2 months before. He is survived by his three daughters: Pamela/Olympia (Cassian) Sentman-Sibley, Nan (Clay) Schultze, and Janet (Todd) Ericson. He was so proud that he had 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildrenwith two more on the way!
Paul had deep roots in Iowa where he was born and raised. He attended Wheaton College for a year andended up traveling to California to sing on the air for a radio station. It was there he was love-smitten by Laura Phillips, the daughter of the choir director, where he was getting voice lessons and singing. Very soon after meeting, they married. Fromthe bright lights of the big city to the farm fields, the newlyweds moved back to Iowa and then later to the Twin Cities where they raised their three daughters. Just as their youngest started college, they moved to Florida and lived there for several years. In their later years, they had a couple of stints back-and-forth living in Minnesota and Florida.
Paul tried his hand at many careers until he found the exact fit of becoming an entrepreneur and landdeveloper. With various partners, he built several malls in Minnesota and North Dakota and, toward the end of his career, developed several senior housing complexes. He was always happiest with a plan in development and a blueprint in hand!
His real passion though was Jesus Christ and he loved evangelism and missions. In the early eighties,he moved his entire family to Africa for a year to develop a Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) housing complex. He also generously helped support many missionaries and traveled extensively in an advisory role. Paul was extremely active in his churchsinging in the choir and as a part of various leadership roles. He donated hundreds of hours leading several churches through building and new construction projects.
Paul will be remembered for his love for God, abiding love for Laura, and for telling many, many stories(often repeatedly 😊). He will be missed immensely by friends and family!Well done, Paul…enter into your rest!!!
His service will be held Saturday, December 19 at 1 pm. Bethlehem Baptist Church North Campus, 5151 Program Ave, St. Paul, MN 55112. Live streaming will be available - https://bethlehem.church/special-event-north/
