Wendi Lou Bertelsen, age 58 Claimed her Crown of Glory June 9, 2020

Wendi was born to Cleon and Florine Engel. Wendi peacefully left her earthly home to enter into the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 9, 2020. Wendi will be deeply missed by her husband Lyle, son Cole and daughter Alaina, parents Cleon and Florine Engel, brother Jason (Joy) Engel, nephew and nieces, Grant, Mara, Molly Fleming (Zachary), Isabella, Nora, Fiona, Aunt Mary Lou Huschen, Uncle Leonard Engel, cousins and special friends.

Wendi graduated from Bethel University, holding a bachelor of liberal arts degree and continued her education at St. Thomas University. Her marriage to Lyle for over 33 years granted them of being very involved with their occupations, in rearing and homeschooling their children, living on a hobby farm, and gracing family and many friends with their excellence in home hospitality.

The gatherings and events in their home, on their farm property, homeschooling Cole and Alaina, as well as flower and vegetable gardening were on her list of favorites and in which she executed and excelled to perfection. Wendi and her family have been blessed by the many expressions of love, care and support from a host of family and friends and by the medical professionals and staff team of St. John’s hospital. Blessings upon each of you for being God’s angels in the flesh.

Due to the COVID19 pandemic and social gathering limitations, a public outdoor visitation will be held Thursday July 2, 2020 from 1-2 pm at the Wulff Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Drive, Woodbury. At 2 pm the family and invited guests (due to seating limitation restrictions) will gather inside for a memorial service. Dear Cleon, Florine, and Family,

My past acquaintance with you and Wendi as former employees of Northwestern College (University of Northwestern) leaves a precious memory of you three and our common bond of faith as we served the Lord at the College. My very sincere sympathy. Bert and I experienced the death of our first son so we know the sense of loss but we grieve with the hope that is ours in Jesus.

In Jesus' love and ours,
Barbara (Bert) Greenside

Wendi’s Mom & my Mom are dear friends. They were pregnant at the same time with Wendi and me. So we really grew up together in our early years. Her Mom taught me piano lessons (I was a poor student), but it was fun to be in their home and have time with Wendi as my friend. Our families traveled together, vacationed together, and lived just down the street from one another for some years.

The loss and pain for her family of loved ones, and friends is very real. May the Lord, as only He can, provide real peace, comfort in this huge loss. Wendi does understand Jesus now in ways we never will on this side of heaven.
Our love,
greg & charmaine lillestrand

Lyle, Cole, Alayna and the rest of her family. Our journey began 47 years ago. It is a friendship I have and will continue you to treasure. I look forward to the day we see each other again.
I was devastated at the loss of my good friend but know she is at peace and no longer has to suffer any pain. I have so many beautiful memories and many moments that I will carry with me forever.
You will be missed more than you know my dearest friend.
Love prayers and many hugs to all of you.

Lyle, Cole, and Alayna thank you for sharing your beautiful wife and Mother with the Holz Group. I had the privilege of working with Wendi for such a short time and yet I know I will carry her words of wisdom with me forever. She was so passionate about her family and her work. She radiated with positivity and always saw the good in everything and everyone. No matter what the situation was, there was always good news. Wendi will be so greatly missed by all who were lucky to know her. She was a a kind soul and wonderful friend.

Wendy was spunky, fun and always so sharp! I knew her for just 5 brief years as a colleague (a fellow Libra) and Realtor. A year or so ago, we spent several delightful hours over lunch getting to know each other and when I learned of her life story, I was blown away by her singular determination to build the life she wanted. Wendi loved her family and was fiercely dedicated to working hard on their behalf...she was a true force unto herself and will be missed by so many. Rest in peace my friend.
