Helen Slevin

December 11, 1925April 23, 2018

Whether you are able to come in person or send thoughts and prayers from afar..… Thank you for celebrating Helen’s life and for your part in the journey with her. What a wonderful life it was…of course there were hard times; difficult and scary times and those situations she met head on with grace and bravery. She lived a full and vibrant life, blessed with the enduring love of her husband Jim; her daughter Shawn; with family and life long friends; engaging work and great work colleagues; enjoyment of travel, the arts, the great outdoors; bridge; reading, the theatre and more! She lived life on her terms….we should all be so fortunate. Reposing at the Kennedy-Roth Funeral Home 41-45 58th Street Woodside, New York 11377. Friday April 27, 2018 from 2-5 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 10:15 A.M. at Saint Sebastian R.C. Church Woodside, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Swim Strong Foundation.

Helen Slevin

have a memory or condolence to add?

April 25, 2018

Dear Shawn and Family,

Helen has been a part of Brooklyn College and the Public Safety Department family for many years! Her knowledge and history of this Department was invaluable, as was she! Meticulous and precise in her work, her organization and order was truly appreciated and needed! Her wry sense of humor, her direct and pragmatic approach to things was refreshing!
I know that she was called home for her eternal rest, and that gives me comfort, but I will miss our long talks and comparisons about family, travels, Catholic school; her reminiscing of New York when she was growing up, and all the changes that she has seen and experienced. She spoke proudly and loving of you (Shawn) and her Beloved husband (Jimmy), and I felt like I knew you both before even meeting you! Your Mom, Helen was a wonderful woman, one who brighten our world!

My Condolences and Prayers!
