

Debra Lynn “Debby” (Walker)Smith, 61, of Woodstock, GA passed away following a heart attack on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Debby was born September 26, 1954 in Pittsburg, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Gertrude (Gallagher) Walker. She attended St. Mary’s/Colgan schools and Pittsburg State University. On September 1, 1973 she was united in marriage to Kenneth J. Smith of Weir, KS at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg. She is survived by her husband, Ken; 2 sons, Aaron of Canton, GA; Austin (Jillian) of Woodstock, GA; and daughter Jamee Douglas of Marietta, GA; 8 Grandchildren: Kalon, Alyssa, Braden, Austin, Vanessa, Isaac, Grace and Madison; 7 siblings; Ron (Leigh) Walker- Miami, FL; Nancy (Clyde) Daugherty-Woodstock, MD; Marilyn (Bob) Short-Frontenac; Tim (Roxanne) Walker-Pittsburg; Susie Edwards-Kansas City; Jody Flora (Jon Splitter) - Mulberry; and Mike Walker-Mulberry; Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Gertie; her in-laws, Jim & Reva Smith, one sister, Cheryl Kissane Rapp; 3 nephews Tony Short, Shawn Kissane, Jeremy Rapp; and 1 niece Sariah Cochran. Debby loved her friends, family, and her faith. She was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church in Marietta, GA. She worked in the Real Estate business for over 30 years in Oklahoma, Maryland and Georgia. However, her focus shifted on becoming a foster parent. Over the past 7 years, Debby and Ken were full-time foster parents to 22 children. They have helped many of these children in the transition to their new “forever” homes. Services are being held at the Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main Street, Woodstock, GA 30188. Visitation, Rosary and Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 12, 2016 with funeral services on Saturday August 13, 2016 at 11:00.
