Louis Quintana

On Sunday, September 1, 2019, Louis Quintana, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 91. Louis was born on April 8, 1928, in New York, NY and raised in Cuba. At 22 years of age he joined the United States Army and served active duty stationed in Germany. He then transferred to the reserves and in June 18, 1955, married Mirta Alvarez of Cuba. They raised a son, Louis and two daughters, Susan and Doris, in Florida. Louis joined Florida Power and Light Company on May, 15, 1953, and retired nearly 36 years later in 1989. In 1963, he was inducted into the Punta Gorda, Florida Masonic Lodge #115 and in 1969 transferred to the Lake City, Florida Masonic Lodge #27 where he was a dedicated member for the remainder of his life.

Louis’ passions included raising German Shepherds and being a master custom cabinet maker. He very much enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a talented pool shark. He was known for his jovial spirit, his affinity for reading the newspaper and singing love ballads loudly throughout the house.

Louis is survived by his wife Mirta, his three children, Louis M. Quintana and his wife Sara Osofsky of Wilmington, NC, Susan and her husband Tom Hopson Jr of Woodstock, GA, and Doris Quintana of Marietta, GA, along with his 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren who all adored him.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019, at the Woodstock Funeral Home on Main Street at 11:30 am. Donations may be made in honor of Louis to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
