Upon graduation from Wapato High School in 1968 he attended the University of Washington and graduated in 1972. Dan was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity during his tenure at college. After graduation, Dan traveled through Europe and had many adventures, which included six months in Spain and Portugal.

In the early 1970’s Dan went to work for his uncle Don Skone in Bakersfield, California. His responsibility was accounting and marketing potatoes. He remained there until 1982. Dan then moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon where he worked for JC Cheyne company as a fulltime potato marketer. After a couple of years Dan returned to the Yakima Valley to work for Skone & Connors Produce, Inc.

Dan was an avid duck and pheasant hunter and spent many happy hours hunting in the Yakima Valley with his friends. My first memory of Dan was when we were kids and Dan had my brothers and me pinned down while he threw apricots at us like snowballs. I liked him right away, a kindred spirit in rebel rousing.

Our mothers were great friends and over the years whenever we visited Yakima Dan would take me out to the horse track, one of my favorite things to do. It was always a good rowdy time and I never left Yakima without a grand memory of a good time had. I grew to think of him like a favorite cousin.

Dan had a heart as big as his laugh. He not only responded to my request of a picture of his family to frame and give my mother for Christmas one year but made the trip from Yakima to Anchorage, Alaska to partake in my mothers 70th birthday party. It wouldn't have been the same without him, as always he was the life of the party.

I will forever miss his naughty cards at Christmas. I am heartbroken by his loss and the world isn't the same without his huge presence. I know it's left a hole in my heart.

My condolences to his son Joe of whom I know he was extremely proud, the Conners family and all his friends.

I went to school at Harrah's Grade School with Danny. He was good in math, very sharp, and he was someone I always liked. I am sorry he's gone.
I offer a prayer for his family and loved ones:
"Lord, welcome your child into your waiting arms, we pray, giving him that loving embrace that speaks of a soul in the Father's home, to his soul's joy. Bless us in remembering him to emulate those things that were his contribution to all the world: the way he so deeply loved and was so proud of his son, the way that he always met a friendly gesture with a welcoming smile of appreciation, and his sense of humor. I am so grateful, Lord, for having known Dan. He is dear in my memory. Amen."

Joe and family, your father always treated me with total respect, I met him about a month ago for a couple of drinks. We talked for about an hour and he told me how well you were now doing. Your dad was a hard worker who's values were solid. He always loved you very much. Always remember the great memories. Bob Swanson
