Marion was born September 6, 1928, in Yonkers, New York. She was the daughter of Augustine and Marion (Coughlin) Fennell.
To her friends and family, Marion (Maz) was a caring, elegant, intelligent, and eloquent woman, who was a voracious reader. She was also a devoted Catholic, praying the rosary daily, and a participant in the Father Solanus Casey group at Sacred Heart Monastery. She was a communicant of the Transfiguration Church in Tarrytown, NY.
Marion was a proud member of the Irvington Seniors and an ardent and cunning bridge player. She was also an avid gardener and enjoyed knitting.
Marion was a wonderful mother to her seven children, grandmother to fourteen grandchildren, and great grandmother to her four great grandchildren. She was a terrific listener, an articulate speaker, and loved her family unconditionally. Marion spoke softly but offered profound wisdom.
For fifty-six years, Marion was married to the love of her life, Eugene (Gene) F. Burpoe. Eugene passed away in January 2007.
Marion is survived by her sister, Jane (Allen), daughters, Elizabeth, and Ann Carroll (Mark) and sons, Eugene (Merryl), Timothy (Sue), John (Maureen), and Michael (Beth). In addition to her husband Eugene, she was pre-deceased by her daughter, Patricia Mary and her brother, Robert Fennell.
Marion touched so many lives, always making them better for having known her and will truly be missed. Rest in peace Maz.
