Oh, how they loved each other so dearly. 
By the grace that they both walked with all the days of their life and with faith,  she was able to be at his bedside, for one... last... kiss.

Since the day I was born, my (step) grandpa (I'm Marla Brundies,, daughter) taught, shared, and did so many things for me like, how to use yard work tools, setting up the sprinkler for me to play in on hot summer days, introduced me to the wonderment of the automated car wash, put my BG's, Shaun Cassidy (lol) puzzle together for me,  and mounted it to a board just like all of his travel ones, tolerated my cousins and me sliding down the stairs on our bellys into pillows as we screamed in delight, he sang with me at church and taught me manners which still serve me to this day.  He also showed my love through his love and devotion to my grandmother and that has been everything to my heart.  Thanks, grandpa (aka BaBa Man), for everything!  Peace be with you.

We had so much fun at the zoo! They always held hands, looked into each other's eyes, checked in to see if all was going well, connected so intimately even when wheelchair-bound for the afternoon.

Another great one of the two of them so happy to be all settled into their new place with all their favorite travel and life treasures surrounding them.

It was such a heartwarming experience asking them about the love they have for each other.

I was saddened to just hear of Wally’s passing.  He was such a great guy and I enjoyed working with him at AAA for many years.  After he retired I would enjoy his visits to the office where he would entertain us with his stories and jokes and wonderful laugh.  My thoughts and prayers to his beautiful bride Marcia whom he loved dearly and his family.  RIP Wally.

Dear Marcia and Family,

I was so sorry to learn of your loss.  I am the Don Heagney family historian/genealogist and I was delighted to have met Wally and Marcia sometime around 2000 when they were in Virginia visiting Marcia's son, Craig.  My dad, Don Heagney (first cousin to Wally and deceased in 2014 at age 94) , brother, Brian and his wife, Karen, so enjoyed catching up with Marcia and Wally on family stories!

We stayed in touch throughout the years sharing annual holiday letters and Wally and Marcia would occasionally share "HeagneyHageney" memorabilia.  Their warmth and generosity was endearing!

I hope that you find comfort as you celebrate the beautiful memories of his life.  I am also attaching of picture of Wally, myself, and my dad when we got together in Virginia.  (If I can add more than one picture, I'll also add one with Don Heagney and Wally, and Marcia and Wally.)

Hi, everyone. So sorry to hear that Uncle Wally passed. Hopefully he went peacefully with his beloved Marcia by his side.

Although we didn’t spend a lot time with Wally (or as Grandma and mom called him, “Brother”) growing up since he moved to Iowa, I will always recall his gregarious nature, his sharp laugh, and his silly ways. As Tom said, he was a great story teller, and boy, did he have stories (and jokes!) to tell! He loved sharing his photos (in the old school slide carousel) of the many cruises he led along the coast of Alaska for AAA.

I also recall that Wally loved jigsaw puzzles and would shellack and frame them when he finished them.

As a member of the Greatest Generation of WWII vets, Uncle Wally was in the thick of action in naval battles in the Pacific theater and saw the horror of war up close and personal.

Interesting side note: Uncle Wally and dad went to Saint Ann’s Academy (a former high school on the Upper Side of Manhattan) at the same time! Dad was Class of 1941, Wally was 1943. Of course, they didn’t know each other at the time since dad met mom a few years later. Wally is in a class photo in dad’s yearbook—you can spot Wally with his large ears!

The last time I remember seeing Uncle Wally was in New Hampshire for a wedding or graduation, but I can't remember the last time he made it out to visit.  Maybe someone else can.  Speaking of The Greatest Generation of WWII vets, I do remember during that time that when I asked him about his experience in the War, he was very open about recounting his experiences and he even had some pictures that he showed me.  He said he lied about his age to enlist, as he was only 17 at the time.  He was also in the thick of combat and said he showed down three Japanese planes and remembered a Kamikaze striking one of the nearby boats.  
   But as others have mentioned the thing I most remember about Uncle Wally is his boisterous laugh and great sense of humor.   A few memories stick out.  One was back in the 90's, when Grandma and Grandpa Wayman still lived in Michigan.  We made a trip out to Iowa to visit Uncle Wally and Aunt Marcia as well.  Uncle Wally was driving Dave and I and he blew passed a red light and told us not to tell Mom.  "It was an orange light" after all.  I wouldn't want to be a snitch, but I think the statute of limitations has passed on that one!
  Even before, I remember Uncle Wally was an unwitting accomplice in some of the games Uncle Peter, Dave and I used to play at Grandma and Grandpa's house in Norwalk.   Dave and I were on some sort of covert mission orchestrated by Uncle Peter and we had to go from Grandma's bed room to the living room unseen to recover some special object.  Uncle Pete was the decoy and distracted Uncle Wally while we crawled in on our hands and knees, made it safely in and out while the adults were none the wiser!  I don't remember if it was that time or another, but at some point Uncle Peter tagged Uncle Wally's back with a Post-it note that said "kick me" on it.  He was a great sport and responded with his characteristic laugh!   Dave and Uncle Peter can correct me if I'm misremembering anything, as it was so many years ago.

Very sorry to hear about Uncle’s Wally’s passing. Like Maureen had said, I remember his hearty laugh and good humor. He was a great story teller and used to regale us with his WW II naval experiences. An end to an era. He will be in our prayers.

I was so saddened to get the call of Wally’s passing. Jim and I shared so many wonderful trips with he and Marcia. These included trips by car and ship, of which he got us started cruising.  We developed a truly close bond that felt like family. He was loved by so many and will truly be missed. Rest peacefully my dear friend. 

I was saddened to hear of Wally's passing.  I am a friend from Grace Lutheran.  I'd have a difficult time naming someone friendlier and more upbeat than Wally.  Being around him and talking with with was always an uplifting (and many time humorous) experience.  My sincerest Christian sympathy to Marcia and the family. 

Wally was one of my favorite people ever!  Marcia too!  I became their housekeeper many, many years ago and we had so many good times.  Jerry and I took care of Marcia’s mother (Grandma Rosie) when they traveled and they always brought me a gift from their travels.   I took photos for Walgreens at the Honor Flights and was so excited to see Wally and take his picture for his flight.  I even had my picture taken with him and it’s one of my favorites.  Love you Wally and I love Marcia too.  My heart and my prayers are with you Marcia and the family. ❤️🙏🏻

We already miss you Grandpa.   Wish we could have been able to visit you this last year.  You lived a full 94 years and built a life around family, travel, laughter, community and service. You were always a character; laughing at yourself and enjoying being the center of friends and family.  Thanks for giving me your wander lust, and love for exploring, teaching me about the world, the importance of of history, appreciation for the arts, a pre-dinner cocktail and most of all, how being a citizen of the world gives us an open mind to be a better citizen in our own community. Wally and Marcia took a lot of trips with others in their jobs and on their own, as they loved to travel. They traveled the world as tour guides for AAA and after retirement they traveled America with friends and then found and fell in love with cruising.  Their last cruise together with friends was just before moving to Ridgecrest Retirement Village in November 2015.
