Dr. Franklin Sanders Black, 84, of Bella Vista passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021. He was born November 5, 1936 in Laramie, Wyoming to the late Volney Emery Black and Pearl Vivette Sanders Black. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Joyce Reasch and Velna Blood and by a grandson, Darren Jesse ‘DJ’ Black. Dr. Black a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, served almost 3 years as a missionary in Japan in the late 1950’s. He loved scouting and achieved the rank Eagle Scout. Following graduation from Washington University School of Dentistry in 1964, he practiced dentistry in Missouri & Colorado retiring in 1994. Franklin enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, woodworking and helping others. He will be remembered for the wonderful times shared with family and friends and his legacy of encouragement to his children. He was married in the Salt Lake Temple to Donna Shirk and they shared nearly 60 years together. He is survived by his wife Donna, and his children Scott Black (Kathy), Darren Black (Marcy), David Black (Anne) and Brian Black (Stephani); 2 sisters, Evetta Averett and Beth Black; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren (with another on the way); numerous extended family members and dear friends. Services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 with visitation beginning at 10:00am. Funeral service begins at 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Bella Vista at 1 Lambeth Drive. Interment will follow at the Bella Vista Cemetery.
