Sorry to hear about Nick’s passing . Both of us went to MMA, I in 60 & Nick in 61. Nick lived just a block away, I remember they lived next door to the Aurora City Lines bus depot. Remember flying kites in his back yard. He had a small motorcycle, we use to ride it along the railroad tracks between his house and mine. I had 56 Ford that needed some work, so he let me park it in his garage while we worked on it. His Dad kept asking, when are you going to get that car out of my garage. Such good times together. Nic and l go way back.
3 yrs. after graduating from Marmion Military Academy in Aurora, Il, Nic and l togetherbought a 1962 Red Corvette. Within a couple weeks we headed north thru Wisc. Minn. and into Canada. We headed West thru Moose Jaw, Swift Current, Medicine Hat, Banff & Lake Louise, dropping South thru Idaho and eventually to the Seattle World's Fair '62. We headed South to Sacramento and Long Beach. After a couple weeks we headed back to Sacramento, found an Apt. sold the Corvette, Nic going to Sac. State and me working 4 mos. before joining the Air Force. WHAT A GREAT TIME WE HAD. We didn't reconnect until my job took me to the Bay Area in '77. Being a fisherman he had me over for delicious Salmon dinners. It's been some 40 years and unfortunately we never stayed in touch. We never had one argument over the Corvette.

Nick was a treasure. Fun loving and witty. A true original in all things. He will be missed. Rest In Peace cousin.

Living across the alley from Nick, I got to meet him after he submitted a request to the City to build his art studio on the alley. I  enjoyed his friendliness, our conversations in the alley and forming our own "alley watch", doing what we could to prevent problems. I am grateful for Nick's kindness, painting over graffiti on my garage at one point before I had time to get to it and replacing a broken fence board for me. I will miss running into Nick on the art walk and having him as part of my little community. May you be free to create beauty and kindness in the next part of your journey Nick! 

I have lived on 35th street for over 30 years.  I'm not sure how long Nick lived in his little house on our street, but it's been for many, many years.  We are a close neighborhood and I will miss seeing him out there tending to his lawn (he spent hours and hours out there).  And, I will miss seeing him slowly 'tootle' up and down the street in his old brown and tan Bronco (?) going about his business.  Rest in Peace Nick.  I will miss you.

I remember Nick as an artist and generous person. Though I didn’t know him so very well, these were my impressions of him. I say generous because of something he did for me. I needed a frame made for a replacement transom window and Nick was the shop woodworker at the time. I asked to hire him to do the work (which he did) and he refused payment because I was going through a divorce with three young kids. I couldn’t believe anyone would do something like that for someone that wasn’t a close friend. After that I did spend some time asking him about his art, which sounded very unique. I hope he was still doing his artwork. RIP Nick, you are someone I still think about these days because of the kindness you showed me during a very hard time in my life.
