While working in Arkansas, Gary met and married the love of his life, Nancy Elizabeth Johnson of Crossett AR on October 3, 1969 in Ashley County AR. They moved to Forney and soon after settled in Garland.
Gary graduated from Oak Cliff Christian HS on May 24, 1965. He joined UA Local 100 Plumbing and Pipe Fitting union in 1966 and completed trade school as a Journeymen in 1971. He worked in the HVAC industry and was a proud 45+ year member of UA Local 100 until he retired in 2012.
If you knew our Dad, then you know what a giving and unselfish man he was. It didn’t matter who you were, if you needed help, he was there. He would rather give than receive. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a devout Christian and member of Baptist Missionary Association (BMA). He enjoyed going on missions and spreading the Gospel to other countries as well as here at home.
Gary was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Nancy Elizabeth Davis; brother, Harold D. Davis; sister, Linda Mixon; father, Joe D. Davis; mother, Violet Bernice Davis and three grandchildren: Christopher Chadd Irwin, Ryann Andrew Irwin & Colby Aaron Irwin.
Survivors include his daughter, Lee Anne Sandy & husband, Steve of Garland, his son, Kevin of Dallas, his son, Brant & wife Teresa of Grand Saline and brother, Steve of California. Gary was blessed with 5 grandchildren: Daryl & Justin Carter, Coty Davis, Ashley Lewis and Jaeden Enlow; 16 great grandchildren: Dacota, Briana, Kaila, Kinsley, Layden, Kali, Leah, Katelynn, Sadie, Kam, Kace, Josselyn, Evalee, Kaine, Kaicee, Nevaeh and numerous other relatives & friends.
He made broken, look beautiful and strong look invincible. He walked with the universe on his shoulders and made it look like a pair of wings. Those we love never truly leave us. There are things that death cannot touch.
