Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late John Farrell, Sr. and Elizabeth (Barrett) Farrell.
Ruth was a Teacher for Holy Name School and Fall River Public Schools for over 30 years before her retirement. In her later years, she worked for her son’s business, Corner Sports Store.
She was the former President of Holy Name Catholic Women’s Guild. Previously presented with the Knight of St. Gregory award, Ruth was also a Eucharistic Minister.
She is survived by her devoted son, Thomas F. Burke, III and his wife Claudia of Fall River; grandson, Christopher Jordan; 3 great-grandchildren, CJ, Lily-Ana and Charlotte Jordan and their mother Vanessa as well as many nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her siblings, Elizabeth Duffy and John Farrell, Jr.
Her Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 PM in Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St, Fall River. Due to current occupancy restrictions, please be mindful that guests may have to wait outside while others pay their respects. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 10:00 AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St, Fall River. Burial will be private.
