Sandra Kay Russell was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on July 13, 1947 to Reverend Ezra Oakley Russell and Evah Melinda (Stout) Russell. She was the youngest of nine children.
Sandra will be remembered as a strong-willed individual who loved to tease her nieces and nephews with a pinch or pull of their hair to get a “rise” out of them. She enjoyed listening to music, going for car rides, eating ice cream, having a “cokie,” and playing with balloons.
She is survived by her sister, Laura Strain, and 17 nieces and nephews and their families.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Dorothy (Guild) Anderson, Mary Catherine Russell, Charles (Ginger) Russell, Betty (Leland) Freed, Marilyn (Richard) Stafford, John (Ann) Russell, Keith (Ruth Ann) Russell, brother-in-law Ronald Strain, and niece R. Paige Abraham.
She will be buried in Farmersburg, Indiana alongside her parents who were deeply committed to ensuring Sandra had a full and rewarding life.
A celebration of Sandra’s life will be held by her family at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at Insights Consulting, Behaviorist Micolea Jennings, and Case Manager Amanda Lawson for their care, guidance, and support over many years and for treating Sandra with great respect, compassion, and love.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Little and Sons Funeral Home.
