Mary Katherine Wilson, 61, of West Des Moines, passed away on March 18, 2021. She was born August 6, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa, to parents Don & Etta Mae “Jerri” (Pratt) Wilson. Mary was a proud graduate of Valley High School and an employee of Fountain West Care Center. In her later years, she helped with housekeeping and caring for her parents in their home. Mary was a life-long and active member of WDM Christian Church.
Mary touched the hearts of many with her happy smiles and hugs. Her love of music and dancing, bowling and golf, RVing with her parents, riding her bike, and making latch hook rugs for friends and family brought her joy. Mary has been greatly loved by her family and all who knew her. In her own way, she taught us what is important in life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Miriam Duguid. Mary is survived by her brother, Steve Wilson (Ann), sister, Donna Gambiana (Denny), brother-in-law, Hal Duguid, nieces and nephews Doug, Linda, Beth, Steve II, Jamie, Joel, Cheryl, Lisa, aunts, Helen, and Doris, and many extended family and friends. The family is forever grateful for caregiver Kim Thoms for all the support and loving care she provided for Mary during the last several years of her life.
Memorial services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 24, at West Des Moines Christian Church (4501 Mills Civic Pkwy). Visitation will begin at 10 am until service time.
