Shirley Schoonover, 77, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, March 28, 2021. She was born, and lived her whole life, in East Stroudsburg. Shirley’s bright smile and positive energy will be missed. She always had a tissue and hand lotion in her pocketbook for anyone who might need it. She brought her love of knitting, crafting, and cleaning to her work at the American Ribbon store in Stroudsburg. Shirley was a supportive, loving wife and mother, and enjoyed many fun, meaningful times with cousins Pete Deihl and Judy Rogers. She was passionate about ice cream and made everyone feel special.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 52 years, John S. Schoonover, Jr.. Other survivors include her daughters Amanda and Jennifer Schoonover, sons-in-law Jason Beals and Jaime Hernandez, and grandchildren Eleanor and Jasper Beals. The family hopes to hold a gathering in her memory this summer.
