Son of the late Lewis and Pearl (Thacker) Hart. He graduated from James Monroe High School in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1952 and Strayer College in Washington, D.C. in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army 1955 – 1958.
Gerald was married to Phyllis Jackson for over 33 years. They lived in McLean, Virginia until February 1990 and then moved to Boca Raton, Florida
He was a Commercial Property Manager in Washington, D.C. and Virginia before moving to Florida, where he managed commercial buildings in West Palm Beach before retiring.
Gerald loved all sports. He was a former high school, college and international basketball official for over 25 years. He was also past President of Board Twelve of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis of Boca Raton; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry Jackson and Elizabeth Jackson of Melbourne, Florida; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda Hildebrand and Richard Hildebrand of Webster, Florida and New Gloucester, Maine; brother-in-law, David Jackson of Boston, Massachusetts. Gerald is also survived by many cousins and friends in Florida and Virginia with whom he spent many wonderful times over the years.
