I am sorry to learn Joe passed away.  We met through Grief Group at Main Street United Methodist Church a couple of years after my husband died in 2012.  Papa Joe, as he was referred to, was a special friend to all, who enjoyed so many of our group gatherings from meetings, sharing meals, road trips.  We will always have fond memories of him.  Please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss.

To Family -  Joe and I met during the most difficult of times.  We were members of Main Street United Methodist Church Grief Group.  As difficult as it was, a likeness and understanding was bonded.  Joe was special and was enjoyed by all during our group activities.  Joe was the life of the Group.  Richard

Denny and Joe were roommates at VPI ( now VA Tech) for 3 years (1952-1955)  I am Denny's high school sweetheart (married  66 years) so met Joe in 1952 and we have remained friends until his passing.  He was Denny's best man in our wedding.  We love JoAnn and we loved Barbara.  Joe had four beautiful children that he spoke of often and loved dearly.   In 1962 he visited us in Henrico County and since our hardwood floors were bare, he had wool carpets sent to us from the company he was working for!   A few years back he decided to go on a bus trip with us to Nova Scotia and New England.  We ate lobster every day.  You can bet that when we returned home, he said that he never expected to be on a bus again in his life!  He was beautiful (those dimples!), generous, and we loved him dearly!  We miss him! Dear Dabney, Joey, Denise, Dan,

I send you along with Danielle, Carter, and Bryan our love and prayers at this time of loss of your father.  I know this is an emotional time but a celebration also of a long life well lived. So many fond memories of Joe, funny, intellectual, instructive when it came to cooking.  What a cook he was!!!  And also so many fond memories of our families time together.  Deepest love to you.

Please know that I am thinking and especially praying for you.
Joe was an unique man, funny an at times  very serious.  He did not fear death.  I remember with fond memories -our good and bad times when we would talk at Grief Group Meetings.  He didn't miss many meetings .  We did many fun things.....always ate at the Wednesday night dinners together, we went to the movies, little trips, concerts,  plays, even spent a long week-end at Smith Mountain Lake.   Always we ended up eating somewhere-We all like to eat!  Did you know that Joe Ann and Joe were the last couple to be married in the old 1874 Main St Church.   Gone are the days.  I will miss Joe. He was born to the late Joseph Paul Glick and Mayte (Burns) Glick of Waynesboro, Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Fox) Glick; a grandson, Aaron Ketrow; and a step-daughter, Rene Branham.


Survivors include two daughters, Dabney Ketrow of Greensboro, NC, and Denise Helsabeck of Chesapeake, VA; two sons, Joseph Glick, III of St. Augustine, FL, and Danny Glick of Greenville, NC; a step-son, Joseph Gary Branham of Florence, SC; two step-daughters, Leann Dowd of Charlotte, NC, and Kelly Branham of Washington, D.C.; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
