Rosalind, known as Rose to her family and friends, was born on October 8, 1944 in Belize, British Honduras. Rose’s family came to the United States when she was three years old. Her family settled in Tampa, Florida and Rose remained a life-long resident. She attended and graduated from Hillsborough High School. She began her career working for Winn Dixie in their administrative offices and then transitioned to working for several large financial institutions throughout her career, like Barnett Bank and Bank of America. Rose ultimately retired from Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union in 2010, after 10 years of service there.
Relationships were extremely important to Rose, especially with her family members and friends. Rose was a loving and dedicated mother to her two children, treating each one as her “favorite” child. Later in life Rose enjoyed caring for her grandchildren whenever she was needed. She sacrificially gave her time to make sure she was present in her grandchildrens’ lives and attended as many of their school functions and extra curricular activities as she could. Rose loved to go shopping for her children and grandchildren and commonly put their needs before hers. Rose spoke negatively of no one and was accepting of all. Her kind spirit and friendly personality made making friends especially easy for her. She was known to be a peacemaker with family and friends and always encouraged forgiveness. Her life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32 (NIV) - “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” She will be deeply missed by everyone.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents Holroyd and Ada Griffith, her brothers David Griffith and Clifton “Buddy” Griffith, and her first born child whom she loved so much, Alonzo “Lonnie” Shiver III.
Rose is survived by her daughter and her husband, Donna and Ronald Robinson, her grandchildren Amy (Mahlon) Dennis, Kristen (Travis) Lawhorne, Melissa (Samuel) Figueroa, Derek Robinson, Nicholas Robinson and Joseph Robinson, and her great-grandchildren Kristopher Dennis, Jaxson Dennis, Savanna Lawhorne, Mason Lawhorne, Elias Figueroa, Nyomi Figueroa, Sophia Figueroa and Sienna Robinson.
