Marina graduated from Ruston Academy in Havana, Cuba. After she fled Cuba with her young family in 1960 and, because she spoke perfect English, Mom was able to get a job as a clerical typist at Blue Cross/ Blue Shield in New York City. She later worked as an executive secretary at 3M and Medtronic.
Marina was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ricardo, and her youngest son Albert (Christina) Hermida. She is survived by her sisters, Dr. Aida R. Soto, Ph.D., and Maria Soto, Pharm.D., as well as her oldest son, Rick (Aurora) Hermida, and five grandchildren: Chris, Albert, Ricky, Johnny and Aurora Marina Hermida.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Caballero Funeral Home located at 7355 S.W. 117th Avenue in Miami. There will be a mass on Friday, April 30, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Little Flower. Burial to follow.
