Leon was born in New York, but the Bronx was his home. He was a graduate of a trade school for carpentry in New York. He started working at the age of 11 selling shoe laces. He later worked for the newspaper The Answer, a publication for the League to Free Palestine where he met his wife Eloise (Liz) Cruz. They lived in Brooklyn before moving to Freehold, NJ. He worked for the National School of Home Study and, later, Weber & Sons, Printing and Mailing. He soon opened his own printing and mailing shop called B-Hive Printing. Besides working, he volunteered with the Knights of Pythias, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Relay for Life and drove patients for their treatments for the American Cancer Society.
In addition to his parents, Leon is predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Eloise (Liz) Ben-Ezra, his brother Ralph Ben-Ezra and his daughter-in-law Linda Ben-Ezra.
He is survived by his son H. Leon Ben-Ezra and his wife Sheila, his son Glenn Ben-Ezra and his wife Virginia, his daughter Susan H. Faust and her husband Robert with whom he lived, as well as 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Shiva will be observed privately. Please contact the family for more information.
