William "Bill" Anthony Rodgers, age 72, passed away at home on June 4, 2021. Bill was born in Effingham, Illinois to parents Colonel and Palma Rodgers. Bill and his family moved to Casa Grande, Arizona in the 1950's where he attended grade school. They later moved to the East Valley, where he graduated from Westwood High school in 1966. His family ran Bunker's mortuary as he was growing up where he drove the ambulance and he was able to be certified as one of the first medics in Arizona.
Bill started his career at the Maricopa county Sheriff's Office in 1969, during this time he was drafted into the US Army. He served from 1971 - 1973 in Vietnam. When returning, he went back to work for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. He retired as a Sergeant in 1993. In his retirement Bill began volunteering for Apache Junction Police Department as a Reserve Office. He retired from the Police Department in 2014. Bill is a proud member of the Vietnam Veterans Association (East Valley Chapter 1011). He loved to play Golf no matter how warm out it was outside. He enjoyed traveling to Greer, Arizona to go fishing. As well as going to the Casino with family.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Teresa and their son; Travis. His daughters; Kerry Morgan and Stephanie Guidel and four grandchild. His sister; Jacque Eells and nephew; Cody Eells. Mother-in-law; Mary Warren and beloved Dog, Yoda. He is preceeded in death by his parents Colonel and Palma Rodgers.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 1pm at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park; 400 S. Power Rd. Mesa, Arizona 85206.
