You and your family are in our prayers.  Bobby was alway a friend willing to help. I have so many great memories.  He was a very special man and will be missed.

Just a few of the memories that Papaw and I share together….No matter what Papaw was always there for me. He was my best friend for a really long time. I can remember staying the night and always waking up very early to go get breakfast at McDonald’s. Afterwards it would be time for yardwork. We mowed at the house, the VFW and the Church a whole lot. Papaw told me several times in his life that he wouldn’t be around forever. As a child I didn’t really think too much of that at the time. Looking back now I know he was trying to prepare me for my life ahead. He always took the time to show me the right way to do things. I am forever grateful for all those lessons and the special time we shared with one another.

Some of my favorite memories with Papaw are, when Uncle Dub would come to town and stay the night at Papaw’s house. We would spend the evening staying up late watching the Atlanta Braves play on the tv, and playing a game, or two, or three of canasta! Papaw and I would go to Aunt Bing’s and Aunt Margaret’s houses a lot together. We would always work really hard mowing their lawns, but we knew when we finished with all the yard work we would be rewarded with a good lunch and an even better game of canasta. Papaw was always involved with my baseball little league teams. He was my biggest fan and my coach for as long as I can remember. I am thankful.

No matter what my Daddy always made me feel very special and loved. I never once doubted that growing up. Every Wednesday night we’d be at the bowling alley together. The only thing was that I had to finish up my homework before hand. He bowled there with his bowling league, “The Flying Tigers”! While Daddy bowled, I played with friends or I spent time in the nursey playing with the babies. Our Church trip to Eureka Springs was a really good time together even though the weather was bad. It cleared up by the time we all went to watch the Passion Play together. Every summer we would take trips to Florida and stay on the beach. We must’ve seen the whole state of Florida by the time I reached my teenage years. It was always a great family vacation. I spent most of my time as a child with Daddy, either at North American Car and Tank (GE) or the VFW. I ran the show and he let me! Daddy worked from the time he got up in the mornings until the time he’d go to bed at night. He never told anyone “No” about anything. He was always ready and willing to help others without taking time away from his own family. I’m not sure how he managed to do that, but he most certainly did just that until he couldn’t. He always made the time for both. I am forever grateful that he did indeed choose me.

For as long as I can remember every Sunday morning Papaw would pick me up for Sunday School and Church. I can still remember the way the fellowship hall smelled of fresh brewed coffee. Papaw needed his Jesus and coffee too no matter what! I am so very thankful for him sharing his love of Christ with me for all those years. I remember staying the night on Friday nights and enjoying bacon, egg, cheese biscuits on Saturday mornings together. Times spent in the garden together were always special. He would dig the hole and I would plant the seeds. Picking fresh ripe tomatoes, squash, purple hull peas and okra were always a treat! We shared a love for fried green tomatoes! Picking up pecans and shelling them afterwards was another favorite memory. We did all the hard work and then Memaw would make homemade pecan pies. We ate good! Papaw taught me many, many things, but the most important thing he shared with me was his love for God. He loved hard and never ever expected anything in return. Thank you, Papaw!
