Philip Harding

Born in Boston, son of the late Raymond and Florence (Mahoney) Harding, he had resided in Fairhaven for most of his life. He served in the United States Army.

Mr. Harding was a graduate of the Franklin Institute of Technology and worked for Commonwealth Electric, retiring as supervisor of maintenance. Following retirement, he returned to college and received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from U-Mass Dartmouth. He counseled people for several years.

Phil was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered at the Shepherd’s Pantry in Acushnet for many years. He was a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan.

He is survived by his children, Joseph Harding and wife Erica of Bradenton, FL, Raymond Harding and wife Karen of New Bedford, Philip M. Harding of Fairhaven and Anne Hammond and husband Thomas of Fairhaven; a sister, Mary Harding of Fairhaven; a sister-in-law, Denise Harding of Acushnet; six grandchildren, Kerri E. Dias and husband John, Philip R. Harding, Christian P. Harding, Thomas J. Hammond, Jr., Steven J. Hammond and wife Jeralyn and Kathleen E. Hammond; two great-grandchildren, Jed Luke and Hannah Hammond; and two nieces, Laura and Amy Harding of Minnesota. He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Richard Harding.

His Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 74 Spring St., Fairhaven followed by burial in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Mattapoisett. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shepherd’s Pantry, PO Box 760, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
