This year I am grateful that you are not feeling any pain. ... I was remembering the time we had just finished eating our Thanksgiving meal and in one statement you said, "I have to take a poop - anyone want to go out side for a walk with me?" We all laughed because you made it sound like you were a dog needing to go out to do your business but you had no idea why we found it so funny. ... 
Thank you for all the laughter  old lady!! We miss you!!   

There is a word in Hebrew called “Mizpah,” which means, “The LORD watch between you and me, when we are out of one another’s sight.” 

This word is used in Genesis 31:48-49 where a man named Laban set up a memorial to stand as a witness to a covenant made. 

I can think of no better time then now to use this word in remembrance of one of the patriarchs of our family. Till we meet again to worship our amazing Father God together! You are missed Momo! 

What a lovely video and tribute to Ruth. A lovely lady with a beautiful smile. We weren’t in the same choir but later on she would attend the 10:00 am mass at San Antonio where I sing. We would visit a little before mass . When she moved to Austin she called me to tell me that she wanted us to sing for her funeral when the time came. Unfortunately  2 of our members have retired . Lucille Truitt and Nena Landa. They were good friends . It will be an honor to sing at your funeral Ruth . May you Rest In Peace. Love you . ✝️

Momo would say to me , “you’re not Kathy you’re Katalina.”

 I was fortunate to spend quality time with her this past year and a half, when she moved to Austin. I loved to listen to her memories about her upbringing, Popo, raising her five children, nursing and cooking.  She would tell you a sad story and then turn around and make a joke. One of my favorites that I’ll think about every Xmas when I eat tamales was how her and her brothers had the task of picking  corn, shucking the corn, making the masa and on and on for the whole family in order to have tamales for the holiday. It would take hours if not days so any mention of tamales and she’d say, “you know what you can do with your tamales? Stick up your you know what sideways,” and crack up. She was soo funny and had an amazing laugh., I’ll miss that laugh the most. 

During one of our last visits I gave her a haircut and we chatted about her health and how she was ready for the Lord to take her. She did not want to complain about her aches and pains but we all know now she was suffering. It wasn’t like Momo to seek sympathy. I admire that about her. On that summer afternoon, she looked at me with her beautiful smile and said, “ When I die, I want people to say I was a tough broad.” And again cracked us both up. 

Momo was a tough broad, she was beautiful, the best cook I’ve ever known, and had a sense of humor right up until the end. I’m so happy to lay her to rest now so she can be with her family and especially with  Popo. 

La familia Gonzales always made you feel welcomed to their loving home.  Ruth’s big beautiful smile said it all. Thank you.

The last week I spent with my mom before her death was one filled with blessings and sorrows. I was able to say things to her and she said things to me that helped me as I grieve and rejoice her death. I thank the Lord for His omniscience - He knew what we needed to say goodbye to each other until we meet again in heaven. She is now forever young and suffering no more.
