Lois Mae Bensen passed away December 5, 2010. She is survived by her three sons Robert G. (Amy) Bensen Jr. of Moreland Hills, Ohio; Dwaine A. (Holly) Bensen of Russell, Ohio; and Douglas W. (Sarah) Bensen of Fort Worth, Texas.
Lois was born on February 9, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Cleveland Heights High School. She resided primarily in Pepper Pike, Ohio, Blairsville, Georgia, and Naples, Florida. Lake Temagami, Canada was often her summer home and Mauna Kea, Hawaii was a favorite wintering place with her husband, Robert G. Bensen Sr. Together they were members of the Shaker Heights Country Club, the Wyndemere Country Club, and the Royal Poinciana Golf Club.
Lois enjoyed traveling the world to Europe, Japan, Australia, China, Singapore, Thailand, New Zealand, Bali, and Norway. She spent much of her time photographing her adventures in travel but also enjoyed photographing cats, birds, plants, and animals at home. The fruit of her passion was captured in her wonderful landscape and portrait paintings. Lois was also an avid reader of historical biographies.
Her greatest treasure, though, was her three sons, whom she adored. That same love, kindness and gentleness of spirit endeared her to many, many friends.
Services will be observed privately by the family.
