Annette S. Lebow (Nettie), 88 of Stamford, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital surrounded by her family on Wednesday, February 16, 2011. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on September 16, 1922 to the late Joseph and Frances Bloom.
Nettie was known for the way she always helped others quietly, never wishing to draw attention to her own kindnesses and good deeds. Everyone confided in her because she knew how to keep confidences and that, along with her quick wit, was one of the reasons she had an extraordinarily large circle of friends.
She retired from the Dress Barn as the Accounts Manager where she worked for 20 years and was instrumental in growing the business from a local Stamford operation to a vast national chain. Despite her knowledge and love of fashion and clothes, she was an exceptionally down-to-earth person.
Upon retirement, Nettie and her husband divided their time between Florida and Stamford. She was known for her love of dancing, playing bridge and supportiveness to her friends. She was an avid reader and could complete the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle that very day.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Irving D. Lebow of Stamford and her children Lyn Solinas (Mike) of West Virginia, Rachel Drucker and Mark Lebow both from Stamford as well as grandsons, Adam and Jason Solinas and two great grand children, Jameson and Layne. She was predeceased by her brother, Aaron Bloom and sister, Eleanor Greene.
The funeral will be held on Friday, February 18 at 1:30p.m. at Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Road in Stamford, CT. Internment will follow at the Temple Beth El Cemetery. Friends may also visit with the family at Atria Senior Living, 77 Third Street, Stamford on Sunday, February 20 from 2:30 – 4:00pm with a short memorial service following.
