She was born on November 1, 1936 in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Earman Monroe and Nora Virginia Lam Shifflett.
Zada was a wonderful Christian lady, loving mother and grandmother, and loved gospel music.
Zada attended Humes Run School and was employed with Wrangler in Shenandoah for 39 years before retiring.
On August 20, 1983 she married Charles “Ikey” H. Comer, who preceded her in death on June 4, 2010.
She is survived by three daughters, Pat Shifflett and husband, Earl of Elkton, Doris Cubbage and husband, Doug of Shenandoah, Ellen Alger and husband, Jackie of Stanley; one son, Wayne Housden and wife, Phyllis of Stanley; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, five sisters, Louise Dovel of Stanley, Ida Mae Roudabush of Elkton, Mary Housden, Marleen Comer, and Lena Dean all of Shenandoah; four brothers, Charles, Paul, and Clyde Shifflett all of Elkton, Ray Shifflett of Shenandoah; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Conard Shifflett.
The family will receive friends 6-9:00 PM, Saturday, April 2, 2011 at New Life Gospel Church in Shenandoah.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 3, at the church with Pastor Tony Cubbage officiating. Burial will follow at the Cave Cemetery in Shenandoah.
