Walter Andrews, a writer, artist, graphic designer and community leader, died on June 19 in Coshocton. He was 76.He was born on August 27, 1934, in Medina, Ohio, to Mildred and Herbert Andrews. A high school football star and honor student at Medina High School, he later attended Ohio Wesleyan University, majoring in political science. He moved to Coshocton in 1964, joining Shaw-Barton as its Art Director where he worked for the next 20 years, eventually becoming Vice President. In 1984, he left to form Andrews and Associates, working with the Coshocton Foundation, The Footlight Players, Roscoe Village, Coshocton County Memorial Hospital and many others. Walt loved Coshocton, and was very active in the community. He founded the Rising Tide Swim team in 1974 and served as an official in the Ohio High School Athletic Association from 1979-1985. He was the P.A. Announcer for the Coshocton Redskins’ football games for many years, and wrote dozens of articles for The Coshocton Tribune’s Sports Page. He also served as President of the Coshocton Town & Country Club, where he was an avid golfer.He is survived by his wife, Helen, of Coshocton, his son Matthew, of Nashville, Tennessee, his son Michael, of New York City, and his grand-daughter Ada Helen, also of New York City. Services will be held at the Given Dawson Funeral Home in Coshocton on Friday, June 24th. There will be an informal gathering from 5pm-6pm, followed by a celebration of Walt’s life at 6pm.
