On February 16, 2012, Estella Ramos Aronovitch passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Oak View. Estella, known as Nina to family and friends, was born in San Felipe, Chihuahua, Mexico on September 11, 1913. While still a child, Estella and her family came to the US. Educated in Los Angeles, Estella became a citizen at her earliest opportunity.
Estella had a long career as a pattern maker and seamstress in some of the finest women’s clothiers in Los Angeles. Retiring to Ojai in 1978, Estella embarked on a second career as a volunteer. She was a “pink lady” at CMH, did the mailings for Food Share, and assisted at Help of Ojai.
Estella loved roses and planted beautiful gardens everywhere she lived. She was lucky enough to be able to work in her gardens into her nineties. Estella cared for her own mother for years and hosted many family gatherings. This tradition continued after her mother passed and Estella was happiest when her home was filled with friends and family.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Geri and JimWoodson ; grandchildren, Michael and Katie Woodson; and nephew George Huitrado, all of Oak View. Numerous other nieces and nephews are scattered throughout the country. She will live forever in our hearts.
A service celebrating Estella's life will be held on Sunday, Feb. 26, 1:00 P.M. at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura, (805) 643-9977.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home and Crematory. Condolences may be left at TedMayrFuneralHome.com.
