IMERITO – George H. Imerito, Age 87, a long time resident of Trumbull, CT, died peacefully in the home he loved on April 7, 2012. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Genevieve McKenna Imerito. George was born in Bridgeport, CT on June 26, 1924 to the late Jeanette Vertucci Imerito and Oscar Imerito. He resided in Bridgeport until moving to Trumbull in 1955 to raise his family. George grew up in the depression era and entered the U.S. Army at age 19 serving in the Company “C” 87th Chemical Mortar Battalion reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. He participated in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy in 1944. He was proud to serve his country and flew the American Flag every day. He was a former Bridgeport Police Officer and retired from Avco/Textron in 1985 where he was a Supervisor over the building of turbine engines. George loved the outdoors and loved working in his yard. Any task he took on he completed to perfection. He cherished his grandchildren whom he understood individually and always recognized their accomplishments. They in turn have many happy memories of their time with him. He is survived by his two loving and devoted daughters Donna Pellitteri of Shelton, Gina Corriea and her husband Ray of Huntington, five grandchildren, Dana and Thomas Pellitteri, Alexa, Raymond and Jake Corriea as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a brother, Henry (Larry) Imerito. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday April 12th at 11:00 AM at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, 5301 Main Street Trumbull. Interment will follow in Long Hill Burial Ground, Trumbull. Friends may visit Wednesday, April 11th from 4 to 8:00 PM at the Spadaccino and Leo P.
