Orien A. Alderson Jr. was born in 1932 in Nashville, Tennessee to Orien and Vera Alderson Sr.
Orien had many accomplishments from earning his Doctorate of Philosophy in Clinical Christian Counseling, to serving in the Military to working for the Miami Fire Rescue. During the 1950’s he was a member of the 202nd Medical Battalion Army National Guard.
On June 8, 1953 Orien was hired by The Miami Fire Rescue in which he was a fire fighter and engineer for station#9A on ladder#9 for 33 years. In 1963 he participated in the first MFD formal driver engineer training class. In 1967 while off duty he installed flooring tiles and did the entire floor work during Station#9 renovations. On January 4, 1986 Orien retired as a fire fighter and became the Miami Fire Rescue Chaplain until recently.
However in his many accomplishments, the one he was most known and loved for was his role as a Pastor. Orien was known to many as Pastor O.A. or O’Baby. As a man of God he impacted many lives with his words of encouragement and love. Pastor O.A. was also known as the walking bible, as he spoke with you he imparted words of wisdom from the scriptures. Pastor O.A. also had a great sense of humor. He would share funny stories while speaking Spanglish, gringo poco loco was his favorite line.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years Donna, son Paul and daughters Kira and Dwan.
He will be greatly missed and always remembered.
