Mr. Harmon was born in Painter, Virginia on the Eastern Shore and resided in Norfolk most of his life. He was preceded in death by a son, Carl W. Harmon, Jr.
Mr. Harmon was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and retired from the Coast Guard Reserve after twenty years of service and from Norfolk Southern Railroad after thirty-seven years of service as an electrician. He was a Mason and member of the Moose Lodge, Son’s of the Confederate and Tidewater Harley Owners Group.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-one years Barbara Ellen Harmon, a son, Michael Tracy Harmon, a brother, John Lee Harmon and wife, Nancy; a grandson, Blair Harmon Crass and a great grandson, William Anthony Harmon and a daughter-in-law, Janet B. Harmon.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norview Chapel.
