Funeral services will be at 12:00 on Saturday, December 15, 2012 in the chapel at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Mary F. Morris, 75, of Gadsden, who passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012. Rev. Larry Morris will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
She retired from First Alabama Bank and is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rainbow City. She was always active in community activities. She was a Charter Member and Past President of the Dixie Bell Chapter of the American Business Women Association with 45 years of service, Past President of the Women’s Club, Member of the Antiquarian Club, and Life Time Member of the Chamber of Commerce. She served as President of the North East Alabama Kidney Foundation for three years and was very involved in fund raising for the foundation. She was a Chair of the Etowah County Muscular Dystrophy Chapter and served as Chair to the Ambassador Club for many years. In 1976 she coordinated the Bi-centennial Celebration for the City of Gadsden. She was instrumental in the building for the Gazebo in front of the Gadsden City Hall. She loved people, loved having fun and she loved this city and was proud to be a part of it.
She was preceded in death by: parents, Joe and Lois Tucker, sister, Jo Ann Valdovinos, brothers, George Cline, Milburn Cline, William Tucker and Billy Tucker.
She is survived by: husband, George Morris, son, Mike Teat, daughter, Sharon (Terry) Tumlin, grandson, Michael Teat, great-granddaughter, Rylee Hannah, sister, Jewel Chambers, brothers, David (Jackie) Tucker and Roy (Lou) Tucker, step-children, Don (Susan) Morris and Sandra (Bill) Chance, step-grandchildren, Christie (Larry) Hicks, Leslie (Jeff) Harvey, and Lori (Brandon) Snyder, Amber (Stephen) Robinson, step-great-grandchildren, Anna Morris, Aaron Coleman, John Harvey, Emily Harvey, Brittain Snyder, Brooklyn Snyder, Tucker Robinson, and Owen Robinson, daughter-in-law, Vicki Hollingsworth, chosen granddaughter, Maggie Hollingsworth, brother-in-law, Val Valdovinos, sisters-in-law, Ozella Langley and Alice Tucker, and best friends, Betty Shew and Pat Stimpson.
Pallbearers will be Michael Teat, Terry Tumlin, Don Morris, Bill Chance, Jeff Harvey and Brandon Snyder.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 10:00-12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
