Born in East Stroudsburg on June 28, 1941, he was a son to the late Wallace G. and Louise N. Lesoine Elwine. Walter graduated from East Stroudsburg High School class of 1959 and served is country in the United States Marine Corps, taking two tours in Vietnam and retiring after 17 years of service. Upon his honorable discharge, Walter acquired a position with Johnson Diversey Inc., East Stroudsburg as a mixer. Walter retired from the position in 2000 after over 30 years of employment.
He was a member of the American Legion, Mt. Pocono; and the V.F.W. Post 3448 Mount Pocono.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his wife the former Emma A. Wilgus, who passed away on July 15, 1991 sister, Frances Frable and brother, Robert Jacob Elwine.
Surviving is son, Robetrt J. Elwine and his companion Dawn La Feir of Stroudsburg; daughter, Martha E. Leuenfoth and her husband Keith of Camp Hill; sister, Bessie Place and her husband John of Marshalls Creek; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 2, 2013 at 11:00 A. M. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg with Rev. Lynn Lesoine officiating. Interment will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery, Shoemakers.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday February 2, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
