He was born on June 19, 1935 in Flint, Michigan. James made Havelock his home for over 40 years. He is preceded in death by a son, Karl Wayne.
Jim's love for his family was only paralleled by the love of his country. Serving 21 years in the United States Marine Corps he was known to say "once a marine always a marine". He was life member of DAV, VFW, Retired Officers Association. Jim also retired from the National Park Service helping to restore and preserve Portsmouth Village and Cape Lookout on the Outer Banks. Jim was a 32 degree Mason, a member of the Havelock Lodge #688 and he was a Sudan Temple Shriner. Jim's kind generous spirit will be missed by his family and friends and his little dog Doodlebug.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Iris, his son James Edward Jr. and wife Debra, daughter Kelly Ann Richardson and husband Andrew, grandson Christopher and great grandchildren Hailee and Issac.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
