He was a United States Army Veteran, and he was stationed in Germany during the ’50s, during the Korean War.
Mr. Hackett was a local business owner in building materials, kitchen design and installation.
He was born February 15, 1930, the son of Glenn and Arlene (Keyes) Hackett. They preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marylyn (Lewis) Hackett of Angola, Ind.
Also surviving are four sons, Gregory Hackett at home, Michael and Susan Hackett of Hyde Park, N.Y., Scott and Wilhelmina Hackett of South Bend, Ind., and Anthony and Rosaura Hackett of Corpus Christi, Texas; four grandchildren, Cory and Lauren of South Bend, Ind., and Thomas and Sara of Corpus Christi, Texas; and two great-grandchildren.
His family was a source of great pride to him. They frequently gathered for reunions at the family home.
Mr. Hackett’s wishes were to be cremated, and a private family memorial will be held at a later date.
