Services will be Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation services for Mrs. Mary Magdalene "Maggie" Abernathy, of Gadsden, who passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at the age of 92. The Rev. Rick Bonds will be officiating. Burial will be at Forrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Abernathy was born in Alabama City, and was a lifelong resident of Etowah County. She loved all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much, and was very proud of each one of them. She was loved by all of her family. She was of the Christian faith and attended the Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett W. Abernathy; parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.F. Bonds; seven brothers; and five sisters.
Mrs. Abernathy is survived by her children, James (Sandra) Abernathy, Michael (Sarah) Abernathy, Lavon (Frank) Pierce, Deborah Boatwright; grandchildren, Mike (Suzanne) Beggs, Leisa Cole, Melissa (Byron) Tidmore, Kenneth (Jenny) Abernathy, Gary (Angie) Pierce, Stacy (Lee) Simmons, Blake Fowler, Jamie (John) Parton, Lee Anne (Thomas) Mooney, and Jeff Abernathy; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Fisher, Jaylen, Courtney, Bella, Nikolas, Delaney, Deanna, LilyRose, Emmery, River, Jeremy, Justin, and Jordan; brother, Clyde (Frances) Bonds; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
