Lt. Col. Anthony D. Tassinari, United States Army Retired, 69, of Palm Bay, Florida passed away on Friday, June 14,2013. Anthony was born in Salem Massachusetts on August 4, 1943 to the late Anthony D. and Elizabeth (Burkinshaw) Tassinari.
Lt. Col. Tassinari was a graduate of Amesbury High School, Amesbury, Massachusetts Class of 1961, Quincy City School of Nursing 1966 and received his BS nursing degree at St. Anselm’s college Manchester, NH in 1976.
Anthony was decorated twenty-four year Army Officer who served in the Vietnam War during 1967-68. Stationed in Tuy Hua 91st Evac Hospital, Anthony volunteered to fly numerous missions giving immediate medical attention to his wounded brothers and sisters in arms.
He moved to Palm Bay upon his retirement from the Army and continued his civilian nursing career a Sea Pines and Florida State Health Department. His final job was Fountainhead Memorial Park.
He is survived by: his sons Steven (Palm Bay), Scott (East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania); daughters Shelley Collins, Alicia Gillaspie, Joyce and Melissa (all of Palm Bay), his 17 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Siblings include: Mary, Susann Carleton, Elizabeth, Charles and Nina; Brother-in-law Jim all of Barefoot Bay Florida; nieces and nephews Elizabeth Stevens, Paul and Christopher Gouin of Exeter, NH, and Susann Desautels of Newburyport, MA. His best friend, Mike Krebs of Palm Bay, several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Anthony was devout Catholic. He was instrumental in procuring funds for the building of Our Lady of Grace in Palm Bay where he was a parishioner until his death. A Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Thursday (6/20) at 10:00 AM. Friends may call at Fountainhead Funeral Home Wednesday from 5 until 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topekia, Kansas 66675.
