Alexina was born May 3, 1917 in St. Sylvestre, Canada to Joseph and Delia Turmel. One of eleven children, she grew up in Augusta Maine and moved to East Hartford, CT. in 1958. She was pre-deceased by her spouses, Romeo Thibodeau and William (Bill) Ahlers. Shortly after marrying Bill in 1976 they moved to Cape Coral Florida for 29 wonderful years. While in Florida she was active in many clubs and organizations, was an active crafter and enjoyed many close friends. Alexina was a very warm, compassionate and gentle person who greeted everyone with a big smile and kind words. During her recent years in Glastonbury, she was an avid reader, loved family gatherings, and looked forward to her weekly shopping outings as well as her weekly visits from her niece Patsy Thibodeau. She was a loving mother who was devoted to her family and friends and in return was loved by many.
She is survived by her daughter Judy Choquette and her husband Bill of Glastonbury, Ct., her grandson Brian Choquette, her many nieces and nephews, as well as the Ahlers family and the Choquette family.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 22nd. from 8-9:30am at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT 06108, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Saint Mary’s Church, 15 Maplewood Dr. East Hartford. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, East Hartford.
