James was a great man of love, knowledge and understanding. A pillar to the community. He had a big heart. Always helping those in need never turning them down. SFC (RET.) James Earl Lewis served his country faithfully for 20 plus years. Earning medals like the Bronze Star and the Humanitarian Service medal.He was known for his stylish fashion. Family was everything to James and he leaves 5 children to carry on his legacy. James is also preceded in death by his two daughters, Angela and Mercedes Lewis whom he loved dearly. James will truly be missed by his five children; Linda, Jamesetta Lewis, James (Jessica) Lewis, Batasha Lewis, Tiffany Pursche, Brian (Michelle) Pursche. Nine grandchildren; Debrisha, Breniya, James, Andre, Shamor, Aaliyah, Jocoby, Maliyah, Mikayla and his siblings; Mary (Earnest) Patterson, Bobbie (Lee) Madkins, Earnestine (James) Jordan, Kathern (Jerry) Caldwell, Flora Jean Jordan, Sandra Mallard, Veronica Singegar, Otis Lewis, Michael Lewis and the late Rovina Bell, Donell Lewis, Norris Hart.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 6-8PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen. Funeral
services will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Crawford-Bowers funeral Home of Killeen.
Burial will follow in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full Military honors.
