Arvilda B. “Aunt Bea” Ames, 100, of Coshocton, passed away on Sunday, August, 11, 2013. She was born in Layland, Ohio on September 24, 1912, to the late Frederick L. and Allie (Pixler) Markley. She graduated from Blissfield High School. On August 13, 1930, Arvilda married Charles W. Ames, who preceded her in death on June 11, 1966. Arvilda worked for Shaw-Barton for 35 years, retiring in 1977 and was a member of the former Layland United Methodist Church. Arvilda is survived by one nephew, Jerry Haywood of Coshocton; and one niece, Vicki Steiner of Arcadia, Florida. In addition to her parents and husband, Arvilda is preceded in death by one son, Dickie Ames; one brother, Wallace Markley; two sisters, Neola Williamson and Bessie Cochran; one nephew, Don Haywood; and two nieces, Carol Ann Gephart and Pam Wood. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Given-Dawson Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Big Run Cemetery in Monroe Township, Ohio. Calling hours will be held from 11:00-1:00 the day of the service at the Funeral Home.
