David Guild, 64, of Beachwood, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013 at home. He was born on August 6, 1949 in Ionia, Michigan to Hurley and Betty Guild. David attended Allegan High School in Allegan, MI and in 1969 joined the U.S. Navy (Seabees). David was a longtime resident of Beachwood. He retired from the Naval Air Station Fire Department in Lakehurst in March of 2003 and later worked for Toms River Schools as a bus aide. He was a life member of the Beachwood First Aid Squad; a parishioner of St. Barnabas Church in Bayville; a Fourth Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 4969 in Toms River and Council 8603 in Bayville.
He was predeceased by his parents Hurley and Betty Guild, Father-in-law Albert L. Kessler Jr., two brother-in-laws Albert L. Kessler III, Thomas Heaney Jr. and his niece Victoria Campbell. Surviving are his beloved wife Joanne (Kessler) Guild; sons David Jr. and John, both of Beachwood; his sisters Judy Nash of Belmont MI, Sherry Honemann and Sandy Guild Forbes both of Allegan MI; and many caring and loving extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept 8, 2013 at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, Sept 9th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Barnabas Church, 33 Woodland Rd., Bayville, NJ. Burial will follow at Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown. Since the Military Cemetery does not accept flowers, the family has requested to please send donations to Joanne Guild in care of Anderson and Campbell, 703 Main St. Toms River, NJ 08753.
