ROAT, DAVID A. David A. Roat, age 81, of Burton, died Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Genesys Health Park. Mr. Roat was born May 10, 1932 in Flint the son of Harry and Neva Roat. He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he earned a Bronze Star at Pork Chop Hill. David was a member of V.F.W. Post 2777 and was past Post Commander several times. He loved his sports especially the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. David retired from A.C. Spark Plug as a set-up man after 42 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Bernadine Roat; children, Michael Roat, Mitchell (Jeanette) Roat, Barbara Kolasky, Jan Hoeppner, Jill Fitz, Terry Kolasky; grandchildren, Jeremy, Mark, Michael and his wife Dustin; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred, Joyce, Alice; brother, Darrol; his dog Ginger who was a good companion. Mr. Roat was preceded in death by his first wife Geraldine, sister, Betty and brothers, Richard and Harry. Friends may visit the family from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, MI. The Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Flint Memorial Park.
