Henry (Hank) Burgess of Salt Lake City Utah. Do to complications from pneumonia he was delivered upon to the Lord, October 16th, at the age of 88. Hank is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rowene and children Joni, Gary, David and Jeanette with 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He retired to Shingletown, Ca, in 1981 after a proud career of 25 years in the United States Navy retiring June 1970, and working for Facelle Co., and Vetco offshore drilling from 1970 - 1980 in Ventura County. Hank was a lifetime member with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1934, Redding CA since August 1977. He served as Post Commander in Chief from 2001 - 2003.
Hanks love of family, Country and friends was what he lived and will be remembered for. He was always there to lend a helping hand to any that needed it or to just give some fatherly advice. Hank was very giving and made many donations to different charities with one of his favorites being the National VFW Home for children out of Eaton Rapids Michigan and at the request of Hanks family, any donations would be appreciated to this organization in his memory. Donations can be made at any VFW Post.
Services for Hank will be held at Lawncrest Chapel, 1522 E Cypress, Redding, CA, Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 1:00PM.
Following the service, a potluck dinner will be held at the VFW Post 1934, 1251 Oregon St, Redding, CA at 4:00 PM
