Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Gospel Baptist Church, 5945 N. Church St., Greensboro, NC 27455, with Pastor Paul Luttrell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Born August 2, 1927, in Forsyth County, to the late Jesse and Lelia Gibson, Ella was a member of Gospel Baptist Church. She was known as “The Ice Cream Lady”. For twenty-five years Ella and her husband could be found in their purple ice cream truck, bringing smiles to ice cream lovers of all ages. She loved to travel but her favorite thing to do was spending time with her family. Ella was a loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother , sister, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Badeau; and two sisters, Josephine Stringer and Grace Galloway.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Kenneth Badeau, James Badeau and his wife Barbara, Thomas Garner and his wife Soowon, Livia Sneed, and Brigette Mottram and her husband Thomas; sisters, Mary McNeil and Thelma Sexton; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm Wednesday evening, February 5, 2014, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel.
The family cannot express enough their love and admiration for all the loving angels at Clapps Nursing Home who took care of their mother.
