Asheboro-Larry Mangram Stone, 69, passed away at his home on June 26, 2014. Funeral services will be at 11 AM, Wednesday, July 2, at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, 1903 Vanstory Street, with interment to follow at Westminster Gardens, 3601 Whitehurst Road both in Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 AM prior to the service.
Larry was a native of Sampson County, son of Mangram and Luda Smith Stone. After graduation from Midway High School in Dunn, he joined the United States Navy, serving in the South Pacific during the Vietnam War. He spent most of his adult life in California, married and had two children. He was a broker in real estate and continued his education earning a Master of Science Degree in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach. Upon returning to North Carolina he pursued his career in psychology and joined the faculty of Randolph Community College in Asheboro. Larry loved teaching.
He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Stone and son, Michael Stone, both of California; two grandchildren, Julianna and Jeremiah; sisters, Faye (Jack) Jackson of Dunn, Joyce (Robert) Jackson of Greensboro and Inez Ryals of Greensboro; nieces, Brenda Pirko and Denise Creef; and nephews, Montgomery and Page Jackson.
